According to Article 2 of Ministerial Decree of 6 August 2024, the Office is responsible for:
- conducting studies, analyses, and evaluations of public and expenditure policy in the justice sector;
- ensuring the coordination and management of projects included in the Ministry of Justice’s three-year plans for expenditure analysis and evaluation, aimed at improving the capacity to manage expenditure;
- developing and promoting studies and methodological proposals to integrate expenditure analysis and evaluation activities with budget planning procedures and the organization's performance cycle, by enhancing the indicator system;
- promoting collaboration agreements and conventions with other institutional entities, such as universities, research institutes, or experts in public policy evaluation, concerning its areas of competence;
- supporting the technical-financial evaluation phase of regulatory and legislative initiatives proposed by the Ministry of Justice and maintaining relations with the Legislative Office, ministerial divisions, and competent administrations;
- maintaining relations with the Expenditure Analysis and Evaluation Mission Unit, established at the State General Accounting Department, for the preparation and monitoring of the three-year public policy evaluation plans.
