additional information

The word “bannare” can also be used to identify this particular behaviour. The aggressor does not "ban" any user that behaves against common conduct customs (netiquette, complex of customs that have to be respected by the users of a chatroom, a forum or another online service), but only a specific user, sometimes already a victim of bullying in "real life". It is necessary to specify that the leadership of a person is determined not only by the number of contacts in real life, but also by the number of online "friends" and "followers". In this perspective, the exclusion is a fully developed punishment, determining a severe reduction of friendly contacts, and causing a loss of popularity and "social power" (source: Pisano L., Saturno M. E. 2008, Pisano L. 2014).

The outcome, for the victim is a neverending series of abusive acts, in both the real world and the online world. Very rarely the relationship between the cyberbully and the victim may turn into a symmetrical one called flaming, if the victim can (with the usage of "anti-ban" software, Software specialised in contrasting withdrawal from the virtual community), to re-enter online and insult, in turn, the cyberbully.
